Established 1996
Cornerstone Children’s Center has been owner operated since its inception in 1996. In 2020 Lisbeth Olsen Condo was joined as owner and director by Christian Mirowski, upon the retirement of Cornerstone’s co-founder Margaret Conley Heffel.
Christian and Lisbeth share a commitment to excellence and operate Cornerstone Children's Center as an early care and education center of the highest quality. Cornerstone is designed to provide a nurturing environment where children can thrive, be a support to the busy parent, to be a great place for professionals to work and to be a resource to the community.
Lisbeth Olsen Condo earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education certified N-8 from Western Connecticut State University in 1988. She entered the childcare field in the summer of 1987 and has since held the positions of Kindergarten Teacher, Summer Camp Director, Program Director and ultimately, Center Director and Owner.
Lisbeth has dedicated her life to positively impacting the quality of care and education for young children, supporting parents and developing staff to reach their fullest potential. Actively involved in the community, Lisbeth served in officer capacities on the Shelton Public Schools PTO, supported Junior Achievement efforts as a JA-in-a-Day volunteer and has coordinated Cornerstone’s food and gift drives for decades. Lisbeth served on the Board of the Connecticut AEYC, as a Validator for the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs and Co-chair of the Greater Bridgeport Director's Group Staff Development Committee.
Lisbeth knows first hand the challenges of combining motherhood, marriage and a career. She is the proud mother of two wonderful girls whose early learning years at Cornerstone shaped them to become avid readers, have excellent problem solving skills and excel academically.
Christian Mirowski earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary and Special Education from Central CT State University in 1989. For 18 years, Christian guided and molded generations of children teaching Kindergarten at the Learning Community Day School in Westport.
Christian has successfully balanced being an Early Childhood Educator, wife and a working mother. Christian’s daughter attended Cornerstone as a toddler and upon the arrival of their son, Christian transitioned into motherhood full time. She was actively involved in their education, volunteering at their schools, organizing fundraisers, planning events, held the capacity of PTA president for several terms, and was employed as a substitute teacher within the Stratford School System.
Upon her return to the workforce, Christian held several responsible positions. While steadily advancing as a Marketing and Communications Coordinator for a digital marketing agency, Christian’s realized her calling has always been early childhood education.
Christian’s passion for childhood development, her educational philosophies and desire to provide quality experiences for children, families and staff align perfectly with the Cornerstone mission.
Lisbeth and Christian, who have been friends for 30 plus years, are excited to partner together professionally in collaboration with Cornerstone’s outstanding team of early childhood educators to make a lasting and positive impact on the lives of young children and their families for generations to come.
